Schnitz Franchising is an Australian QSR restaurant group specialising in hand made pan-cooked Schnitzels. Established in 2007, Schnitz now boasts close to 100 locations, and is one of the fastest growing operations in the category.

POSmusic has enjoyed a fantastic working relationship with Schnitz since 2007 and recently – it was time to revisit their music profile and align it with their new brand position.

The Challenge

Schnitz is a vibrant business which attracts early adopters and needed a music program to maintain this relationship with youthfulness and current trends. The music also needed to strike a cord with the broad demographic attracted to Schnitz at different hours throughout the day.

For playback Schnitz required a robust digital music solution that would be adaptable across a range of different restaurants and capable of withstanding a bustling restaurant environment. They needed a solution that would not cause any issues with IT, Point of Sale, EFTPOS or any other network enabled devices in their restaurants.

Schnitz required a platform that could scale without friction as their successful group continued to grow it’s footprint. And a platform that was effortless for them to add new features to as and when required.

Considerations

Careful consideration needed to be placed not only on what was played, but when, and where, as the Schnitz customer demographic changed in different locations around the country – as well as at different times throughout the day.

Schnitz also needed a collection of music that would re-enforce associations with quality and authenticity.

From the hardware/ technology perspective Schnitz required a platform that could be deployed quickly and very easily. Like other industry leaders, Schnitz needed agile remote multi-site management, real-time performance monitoring/ maintenance and complete control to configure staff access to both music and system features.

It remained crucial to the Schnitz brand that the right music is playing to the right people at the right time.

The Solution

The consultive POSmusic process defined the Schnitz brand sound profile and developed a Schnitz POSmusic schedule that flowed with restaurant trading patterns. Once this preliminary work was complete the POSmusic brand musicologists and big data algorithms went to work.

The result is a curated collection of music specifically crafted for the Schnitz brand and customer demographic. Schnitz POSmusic focuses on the latest breaking music, with releases from current and emerging artists (all with metrics that are blowing up both locally and internationally) alongside an amazing selection of popular and established artists to address the wider more general demographic requirement of the Schnitz target audience.

And to ensure that the music remains current, POSmusic initiated fresh weekly music updates.

Music and schedules from the POSmusic platform are delivered automatically over night and are securely cached by restaurant POSPlayers – which means by day the Schnitz POSmusic system does not rely on an internet connection, avoiding any IP conflicts, issues with bandwidth and the big one…. Schnitz POSmusic does not cut out.
