Nile Rodgers has recently hit the streets of London with his guitar and amp to croon to commuters. Disguised in a beanie and scarf, the famous funkster stayed under the recognition radar until he busted out his hits ‘Le Freak’ and ‘Good Times’.
Outed by his tunes, the disco God soon disrobed from his disguise and the crowd began to flock. Fans grabbed the opportunity to film the spontaneous set up close and personal. ‘Today I went busking on the #London Southbank. Didn’t draw much of a crowd until I started playing dance music. Hmm?’ Nile Tweeted after his busking stint.
Nile’s one-off street show was in honour of the re-launch of new super-channel Sky Arts. Showcasing nationwide talent, the channel features the show ‘Guitar Star’ which seeks to find the country’s greatest guitarist.
Whatever it’s for, it’s great to talent stripped back to the basics, and see a celebrated superstar back to their beginning.
