Legendary AC/DC’s frontman Bon Scott built himself a legion dedicated of fans across the globe.
It’s no surprise that every year many of these fans descend upon his hometown of Kirriemuir, Scotland for Bonfest, the rock festival in his honour. And in Bonfest’s 10th anniversary this year, Bon himself will greet them, thanks to a 2.4 metre-high bronze statue crowdfunded by diehard fans.
Donating just over $90,000, the statue features the frontman saluting in his familiar denim waistcoat and tight jeans, carrying the bagpipes he famously played on AC/DC’s Long Way To The Top.
As NME reported, the fundraising campaign was so successful, it will also pay for the memorial garden where the statue will stand.
While Bon Scott’s life may have been tragically cut short at just 33, there’s no doubt his fans, and legend, will continue to grow.
