For many of us who grew up with Rolling Stone magazine and coming-of-age classic Almost Famous, writing about music is a dream job.
However in between hanging backstage with your musical idols and courting a baby-face Kate Hudson, you do need to do the occasional bit of actual writing.
Thankfully for budding music journalists everywhere, a few short cuts have been revealed since an unnamed reviewer from the yahoo-owned music publication Mic had the (perhaps unenviable) task of reviewing Rihanna’s latest album ANTI.
In an effort to beat other reviewers to the line, Mic accidentally published a review template with [fill in the blanks] segments intended to shoe-horn details of the album into, including such gems as “Rihanna especially pushes the edge in [NAME RELEVANT SONG FROM ANTI THAT MATCHES DESCRIPTION]” in a glowing review for the album which neither the reviewer, or anyone else, had even heard.
Of course this controversy didn’t hurt too much, with ANTI making it to the number one position on the Billboard 200 chart in its second week of release, with combined single, stream and album sales, with pure album sales of 124,000 units.
