When POSmusic favourite Taylor Swift removed her music from Spotify, many assumed it wouldn’t last; surely one of the world’s biggest pop stars of today would embrace the latest technology eventually? As it turns out, years later there’s still no reconciliation between Team Taylor and Spotify.
Far from targeting Spotify alone, however, Swift has also criticised the way Apple Music handled its free trial service. But as The Guardian reported, she has applauded their response.
“Apple treated me like I was a voice of a creative community that they actually cared about,” Swift said. “And I found it really ironic that the multi-billion-dollar company reacted to criticism with humility, and the start-up with no cash flow reacted to criticism like a corporate machine.”
Swift is no stranger to the streaming debate, having previously penned an opinion piece in the Wall Street Journal (behind a paywall here), and discussed the issue in her cover story with Time magazine.
For now, it appears there’s still bad blood between Swift and Spotify.
