Streaming turn the tables for vinyl
According to our friends at the BBC, research has just emerged naming music streaming services as a driving force behind the sale of our favourite must-have lifestyle accessory, the (humble) vinyl record.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, this vinyl snap up is more common for those who use ad-supported services such as YouTube, and suggests that (surprise, surprise) music could be a viable way to push tangible music sales- who would have guessed?
While interest in vinyl continues to rise, the research also suggests that it might be a little too early to claim a victory in the battle between vinyl and digital. In news that will come as a surprise to- well, no one actually- only 48% of people who purchased a record actually admitted to playing it once they got it home. 7% admitted to not even owning a turntable…
