Vinyl goes high definition
It’s a record, it’s a forty-five… it’s super vinyl! With 30% more capacity and volume, and aiming to hit the market within three years, the ‘HD Vinyl’ is a European patent which melds 3D-based topographical mapping with laser inscription technology to realise a premium quality record. The HD vinyl also claims to have twice the “audio fidelity”, although we’re a little unsure of exactly what this means.
We will, however, be able to compare this increased fidelity with our original titles, as the HD Vinyl will play on any existing turntable. As well as fitting into your fitout, production time will be largely lessened and can buck the production bottleneck while being more environmentally friendly.
If timing is everything then this new tech is right on the pulse with recently released figures showing that vinyl is more profitable than ad-supported streaming.
